YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk talks about the alleged tense relationship of the company with Mnet.

On October 3, a press conference of iKON’s debut and solo concert was held. Yang Hyun Suk then met with the media reporters.

When he was asked whether iKON would be making their appearance on “M! Countdown,” he reveals, “There are no plans for iKON to appear for the time being since there is no time for them to do so. They would be going to Japan next week to promote. So it is really because of their schedule.”

Previously, iKON’s debut song “My Type” has been excluded from Mnet’s “M! Countdown” charts. YG Entertainment and fans questioned the exclusion of the song while Mnet revealed that they do not include songs which are not currently promoted by the artists.

In line to that, the YG CEO then comments, “I acted like that since it didn’t make sense. It does not make sense that we were taken out from the ranking since we did not participate in the broadcast. This is the first time that I have encountered such in my 20 years of being a producer.”

He was then asked whether their relationship were bad, Yang Hyun Suk responds, “Our relationship with Mnet is good. Just because we are close does not always mean that we could not criticize. Excluding them off the ranks since they choose to perform their debut at a different showcase just does not make any sense.”

Finally, the CEO was then asked if iKON would appear on the music show in the future, he then reveals, “We are planning to make appearances on November.”
