After it has been revealed that Hyeri would take on the lead role for ‘Reply 1988’, many netizens have reacted negatively with the news.

Many netizens have pointed out that Hyeri’s acting skills in her previous dramas is lacking and that she should not be casted for the role.

Despite the controversies, Hyeri is working hard at studying acting. It has been revealed that she goes to ask advice to producer Shin Won Ho regarding her character for the drama. She has also been watching plays and short movies as well as doing acting lessons.

The staffs of the drama have also advised Hyeri that her mindset in approaching the project is just as important as her acting skills. They are telling her to focus on her role despite the controversies regarding her casting for the said drama.

On June 1, a representative from the drama commented, “One of the main reasons why Girl’s Day Hyeri was casted in the drama was because she fit the character best, we are also very sure that she would be able to exceed expectations.”

Go Ara and Jung Eunji from the two previous ‘Reply’ dramas have also went through a casting controversy, but they were able to dispel those doubts and concerns through their acting skills, we are also sure that Hyeri would be able to do so as well and be able to turn this controversy into an opportunity,” the representative continues.

Previously, Actress Han Groo was also in talks for the lead role, however the lead role went to Girl’s Day member Hyeri.
