Actor Choi Sung Won revealed to have been diagnosed with acute leukemia.
Recently, the producers of the JTBC drama “Mirror of the Witch” has revealed that the actor would be leaving the drama.
In their official statement, the producers reveal, “Choi Sung Won, who was originally cast in the role of Dong Rae, made his way to the hospital on May 4 for a checkup and was unfortunately diagnosed with acute leukemia. For him to focus on his treatment, he has decided to leave the drama.”
They further explain by saying, “During filming, Choi Sung Won has noticed that his body felt strange and that he had bruises which appears to heal slower than usual. He went to the hospital for a checkup and got the result. With regards to acute leukemia, Choi Sung Won’s doctor reveals that the earlier the disease is discovered and treated, the higher the odds for a full recovery are.”
They also add, “Choi Sung Won’s health is far more important than anything else. After a meeting with the producers of the drama, it was decided that he would leave the show to focus on his treatment.”
Choi Sung Won is known for his roles on the dramas “Reply 1988,” “Drama Special” as well as in the films, “The Accidental Detective,” “Slow Video.”
Meanwhile, the upcoming JTBC drama, “Mirror of the Witch” is set to premiere on May 13 and would replace the drama “Ms. Temper and Nam Jung Gi.”
