YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk reveals the company’s plans for its 20th anniversary.
May 20, 2016 marks the entertainment label’s 20th anniversary. It made its debut in 1992 with the group Seo Taiji and Boys. CEO Yang Hyun Suk then tells media outlet OSEN that he had passed out rice cakes at the label’s restaurant in celebration of their anniversary.
With regards to planned events, Yang Hyun Suk reveals, “I am not planning any kind of event. There are no plans for a party or concert either. There are so many things to do before launching our new girl group, so we do not have time to spare. Our artists have to work to live, so I thought that it would not make sense to take time out to celebrate ourselves.”
He also adds, “People think that we are a big company. However, I think that we are actually far from that goal. There are a lot of things which I still want to do.”
Meanwhile, Yang Hyun Suk has recently confirmed that the entertainment agency is gearing up to debut their new girl group this year, possibly this summer. Two of the rumored candidates for the new girl group are Kim Ji Soo, who recently made a special appearance in the KBS drama “Producer” and “Unpretty Rapstar” contestant Moon Suah.
YG Entertainment is home to artists such as BIGBANG, 2NE1, Epik High, JinuSean, PSY, WINNER, iKON, Akdong Musician, Lee Hi and actors such as Cha Seung Won, Choi Ji Woo, Goo Hye Sun, Kang Dong Won, Lee Jong Suk and more.
