Lee Jung Hyun's History
From Yesasia.com's Artist of the Week 7/04/01

The Ever Changing Lee Jung Hyun
Since Sammi Cheng's "Sha Ke," "Mei Fei Se Wu" became the household songs, their original Korean version "Change" and Lee Jung Hyun became more known by the people.
The 21 years old Lee Jung Hyun is one of the most notable stars in Korea. Dance, electronica and techno are her label sounds. As for her image, she keeps changing and surprises us with very distinctive "characters," from cyber female warrior, to Cleopatra to Barbie, she did it all and well. She has also become the fashion role model for the young generation in Korea.

Lee Jung Hyan started as an actress in the very beginning. At the age of 16, with the excellent performance in the movie Hua Xie, she was seen as a potential new star. By chance, she released her debut single "Wow" which topped the Korean pop chart for three weeks. That's how she came to be a singer.

"Change" has secured her status among the most popular singles in Korea. With this song, she took home a couple of trophies: The Best New Performer (1998, 1999), The Best Song, and The Most Broadcasted Song in SBS Seoul.

She becomes popular not only for her songs but also for her creativity and her acute sense of style. She blends the traditional Korean dance with euro-disco dance and Tai Chi, and develops her own brand of dance. When she performs in her baggy clothes, dances to the music, she bewitches and captivates everyone in the venue.

Another peculiarity of Lee Jung Hyun is that she does not use a regular microphone. She wears a wireless mic on her finger so as not to disturb her performances. When it is time, she sings to the mic wore on her finger with a stylish hand gesture, which goes perfectly with her dances. This gesture became her insignia.
