SS501

SS501 is one of the most popular South Korean boy bands. They were formed under the management company of Daesung Entertainment (DSP Entertainment). All of the members have subsequently leaved their management company to different ones, but they still intend to be intact and stay with each other as SS501. Their group’s name is a combination of both letters and numbers that holds special meaning. The first “S” of the name stands for “superstar”, the second is for the word “singer” and the numbers 5, 0 and 1 are symbolizing the five member’s unity as one forever.

When the group’s leader Kim Hyun Joong had started to leave the management, majority of the members had followed his footsteps. He was the first one to leave and had signed under the contract of KeyEast Entertainment. The next that follows is Park Jung Min that joined the CNR Media, Kim Hyung Jun for S-Plus Entertainment and the last two members, Heo Young Saeng and Kim Kyu Jong ahd both signed the contract for B2Ment. Even though all the members are now under the different companies, SS501 will be remain its name and will still produce songs. All of those different companies had stated in the past that SS501’s activities will be still their top priority.

Last October 2010, Kim Hyun Jun had announced that the group will be back in early 2011 with their new album. Since the members are working on their solo activities for the time being, Kim Hyun Joong who was cope up with the drama Playful Kiss as Baek Seung Jo, the main lead actor alongside with Jung So Min who portrays the main female lead, Oh Ha Ni. On the other hand, members Heo Young Saeng and Kim Kyu Jong will be having fanmeeting across the whole Asia. Park Jung Min’s comeback solos album which is Not Alone was originally dated to be released back in November 2010, but because of North Korea attacking South Korea, his management company, CNR Media had pushed back the date to 20th of January 2011 that allows the artist to add more songs to the said album. Par Jung Min was also involved in a musical play, “Bonds of Boys” that was set in Japan from 18th of November to 23rd of the same month. Kim Hyung Jun was in the musical “Café-In” in Korea from the 24th of November 2010 up the 23rd of January the next year; he portrays the two characters of Ji Min and Jeong Min. His very own solo album entitled, “Girl” was released on 8th of March, 2011.

Lately, member Kim Hyung Jun confirmed in one of his interview with Sports World that SS501 will be returning in the late months of year 2011. “When our individual activities and promotions end, the members of SS501 will reunite in the first half of 2011 with a new album. We will also hold concerts with the album promotions.” SO man y fans are now waiting for them.
