Singer Seo In Young talks about the difficulties which girl groups face and the disbandment of her group Jewelry.
On the recent broadcast of KBS variety show “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook”, Seo In Young appears a guest and talks about the hardships which girl groups encounter.
The show’s MC Yoo Hee Yeol opened up the topic and asks, “When groups break up, the usually call it a temporary break, but many were surprised that Jewelry called it a disbandment.”
Seo In Young then responds, “After it was reported, we had one last photo shoot. During the dinner we had afterwards, we were all in tears. We used the term ‘graduation’ instead of disbandment.”
“When my contract ended and I was getting older, I thought of what I should do in the future. Jooyeon and Eunjung were also worried as well. We thought that it would be best if we would all go on our separate ways, it was how the decision to disband was made,” she continues.
“Whenever I look at girl groups now, I see what they are thinking and how difficult it must have been,” Seo In young reveals. Yoo Hee Yeol then asks her on the most difficult part of being in a group, she then responds, “The answer may not be what everyone thinks, but the most difficult thing is just being tired.”
Seo In Young then shares, “You see your members more than your family. Although you are really tired, you would still have to continue to do schedules together. No one could rest. This why some members would end up not talking to with one another and you start to wonder if this is really the right thing for you. You become trapped in a cycle of thoughts.”
