Actor Lee Dong Hwi reveals he did not expect to be popular following his role on the hit drama “Reply 1988.”
On the March 12 broadcast of KBS 2TV’s “Entertainment Weekly,” the “Reply 1988” actor sits down for an interview and reveals that he did not expect to become popular after the drama.
When asked if he expected the drama to do well, the actor responds, “I expected the drama to be popular 100%. However, I did not expect to become popular because of it.”
Lee Dong Hwi then goes to talk about not having a good memory by saying, “I do not like to do adlibs. It is because I do not have a good memory. While I am acting, I am only thinking of the need to finish the scene. Which is why I just spit out what was on my mind. However, the director thought that I had come with prepared lines.”
The actor then talks about his role in the drama by saying, “The director told me that I do not have a love interest or much of a family story in the drama and that I should not expect much from it and just do my best. I had a clear head about the role and showed up on the set to do my part.”
Lee Dong Hwi also adds, “I really did not think that I would become so popular. If there is any work for me out there, I would be there.”
Aside from “Reply 1988,” he is also known for his roles on “Divorce Lawyer in Love” and “Joseon Gunman.”
