JYP Entertainment confirms the news that 2AM member Changmin has left the agency, however they assured the fans that 2AM has not disbanded.
It has been previously revealed that Changmin’s contract with JYP Entertainment has expired last month and that the artist has decided to not renew his contract with the agency.
One insider also revealed that Changmin is still currently looking for a new agency.
Previously, members Seulong and Jinwoon have also decided not to renew their contracts with JYP Entertainment. Seulong signed with SidusHQ while Jinwoon signed with Mystic Entertainment. Changmin would be the third member to not renew his contract with JYP Entertainment while Jo Kwon is the only member left at JYP Entertainment.
On August 5, a representative from JYP Entertainment confirmed the news with media outlet ‘The Fact’, “The contract of Changmin expired at the 10th of last month. We agreed to not renew the contract. Changmin is the middle of discussions to possibly sign with Big Hit Entertainment from what we know.”
The JYP representative also revealed that though the only 2AM member left at JYP Entertainment is Jo Kwon, he assures that the group has not disbanded. The representative reveals, “Though the members are with different companies, 2AM would still come together for activities when there is a good opportunity. They are not preparing for an album yet, however if the work on an album is done, the member would be promoting it like before.”
Stay tuned for more updates on 2AM!
