AOA members Jimin and Seolhyun apologize for their recent history knowledge controversy.
Recently, the two AOA members were criticized for failing to identify an important Korean historical figure, An Jung Geun, during a game in their reality show “Channel AOA.” Since the two members were struggling with the said historical figure, Seolhyun took to her phone to search for the right answer. As a result, netizens have heavily criticized both Jimin and Seolhyun.
Both AOA members then took to their own Instagram accounts to express their apologies.
Jimin writes:
“As a public figure, I upset many people with my joking approach. I truly apologize. I am very sorry. There are no excuses for my mistake. I have learned through this controversy that ignorance is the biggest mistake.
I sincerely apologize and will deeply reflect on this. I will do my best in the future to be more knowledgeable about history to the point that I will not be embarrassed, not just as an idol but as a citizen of South Korea.”
Seolhyun also writes:
“As a citizen of South Korea, I should have shown a more serious attitude towards history. However, I was unable to do so. I have realized a lot and I am reflecting on that fact.
I am very embarrassed about this and I am very sorry towards those that I have disappointed. I will keep everything that you said and try to be more cautious in the future.”
Meanwhile, AOA has recently made their comeback with “Good Luck.”
